Developing core soccer skills including lots of games and fun
Who this program is for:
This program is for players who are ready to build core soccer skills in a playful, energetic environment that supports confidence and learning. This program is a great next step after U4-U6 or for players new to the sport. It is designed for players ready to focus on building foundational soccer skills while still building their overall physical literacy.
The Player Experience:
The program helps players develop their movement ABCs — agility, balance, coordination, and speed — while learning the basics of soccer through fun, game-based activities. Players build skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, ball control, and introductory team play, with a strong emphasis on cooperation.
The program includes two weekly sessions: Station Sessions, focused on skill development through rotating activities and small-sided games, and Game Day Sessions, where players play games with minimal coaching to encourage creativity and independence.
The Program:
- Two 50-minute sessions per week held inside the Dome (Winter) or outside at the Julian de Guzman Park (Spring) and the Hornets Nest (Summer)
- One session on Tuesday evenings and another on either Saturday OR Sunday. Click here to see the current schedule.
- 2 x 8 week phases in the Winter
- 6-week Spring season
- 11-week Summer season
- Teams are organized according to Canada Soccer’s Long Term Player Development – placing players in like-developed groups.
- Technical coaches are overseen by Carl Haworth, our Assistant Technical Director, and work with players in both French and English
