Introducing movement, play, and soccer - the fun way!
Who this program is for:
Active Start is designed for players just setting off on their Hornets journey who are new to organized sport. The focus is on movement, play, teamwork, and fun.
The Player Experience:
Active Start develops basic movement skills like running, jumping, landing, kicking, throwing, and catching in a fun setting built around informal play and positive reinforcement. Our goal is for players to enjoy games, make friends, and develop a love for soccer.
The Program:
- One 40-minute session per week held at the Dome (Winter) or the Hornets Nest (Summer), either on Monday OR Wednesday evenings.
- 2 x 8 week phases in the winter, and a 13 week phase in the summer
- Technical coaches overseen by Carl Haworth, our Assistant Technical Director, work with players both in French and in English
- Co-ed teams grouped by age
- Parents coaches are welcome - please contact Carl to find out more
- To help our players feel comfortable and supported, parents or caregivers stay for the full session.
Details:
- Program Fees are $280 for the Summer Session. Financial assistance is available to those in need – click here to find out more.
- Summer Session 2026 runs for 13 weeks from May 18- August 24, with a two week break the weeks of July 20 and 27.
- We provide each player with a Hornets jersey. Please provide your player with cleats, shin pads, socks, shorts, and a water bottle. A size three soccer ball is optional.
